My story

My name is Phoebe but everyone calls me Bee. I'm a self-taught UK artist based in Canterbury, Kent. I haven't always had a flare for art, in fact I used to believe that I couldn't draw to save my life. So much so that I diverted my interest in art to graphic design because I felt a computer gave me the tools I needed to design what my hands never could. The truth is, I had never given it a proper go. I only properly had a go when I started struggling with mental health. All of this sprung from an adult colouring in book! Art and writing became my saving graces whilst I was recovering. Portraiture has always fascinated me. I love how many stories one expression can tell and that it can mean so many things to different people.

Gold Leaf Artwork

My journey continued...

Firstly, I experimented with graphite and charcoal mediums and now I've transitioned to Acrylic paintings. I love trying new mediums so I will keep trying new things as I view them as new platforms to express emotion. In a few of my recent paintings I've included the acrylic pouring technique and I love the movement this adds to a piece. My signature is to include gold in all of my paintings since I love the way light catches it and changes the atmosphere of the paintings. My partner in life and crime is my Australian Labradoodle Zion. We love taking long walks along the Canterbury Downs and he loves trying to steal my pencils and rubbers. My inspiration for my art comes from nature, my life experiences and releasing emotions.
